It's finally time for the highlight of the summer.

We can’t wait to see you all for the 5th annual running of the 100on100: Heart of Vermont Relay on August 15th. Be sure to confirm your teams final start time via either the Captain’s Corner or the Team Listing page.

VOLUNTEERS:

Please be sure to thank the volunteers and shake their hand, as this event is not possible without them. If you are volunteering please remember to bring a watch and consider bringing an umbrella as well in case storms do materialize.

VEHICLES:

As previously mentioned, teams are only allowed (1) vehicle on the course, any extra vehicles being left at Trapp Family Lodge should be parked in the dirt parking lot across the street from our official start line.

TEAM DELAY/SKIP AHEAD CHECKPOINTS:

In order to work within the event infrastructure there may be times where teams running faster than their expected pace may be held. This years Team Delay Checkpoint will be at the Vermont Plywood location. We have extended the volunteering times on the Southern half of the course to avoid stopping teams, but we appreciate your understanding should this occur to your team.

We have also implemented a Team Skip Ahead checkpoint this year for teams falling behind our support infrastructure. This years checkpoint will be the Killington Skyeship transition. Any team arriving at Killington Skyeship after 8:05 PM will be required to drive directly to the next transition at Plymouth Town Offices, where they may resume running. If this happens to your team, be sure to notify the Team Captain at Plymouth Town Offices that you were asked to skip ahead.

WEATHER:

The one element that we cannot control is the weather. Be sure to plan ahead and bring a rain jacket, extra pair of running shoes, socks and an umbrella. The long-range forcast is calling for "Isolated thunderstorms highs in the low 80's and lows in the mid 60's, all and all pretty good by Vermont standards.

FOOD AND MERCHANDISE:

As many of you know the route is very rural and there are few stores to stop at. We recommend that you have cash on hand for purchases of food at the bake sales and vending vehicles that plan to be on-course. Additionally we will have race merchandise for sale via credit card, cash or check.

CHECKIN:

Friday Night: 8/14/2009 at the Trapp Family Lodge from 6-8PM.

Saturday Morning: 30 minutes prior to start time

**You will need to show your safety gear at registration so be sure to bring it with you**

SUPPLIES/SUPPORT:

Although we recommend that teams be self-sufficient we are thrilled that Vermont Pure has donated (1) case of water per team.

SPONSORS:

An event like this cannot happen without the generous support from local and national business, Please thank our sponsors when you see them during the day. Be sure to shake their hand on race day and let them know how appreciated they are.

RELAY BUCKS:

If you have been fundraising, the last day to earn relay bucks is this Thursday. Due to small transition areas we will be enforcing the (1) vehicle per team rule.

Vermont Pure continues to go above and beyond and we are proud to be supplying each team with a full case of water compliments of Vermont Pure. These times are subject to some alteration, but should remain close to the current postings. As a reminder, please have all of your team members sign up ASAP so that we can finalize the start times for all. Team Captain’s may use the Captain’s Corner to view the posted start time as well as the expected finish time.

HANDBOOKS/RUNNER TRACKER:
Both the Team Handbook and Runner Tracker are now posted on the site. Each team will be supplied with a copy of the Handbook with your registration, but all members should review it prior to the race. The Runner Tracker is an MSExcel template that allows you to enter the start and finish time of your runners, and it does the rest by calculating individual and team pace, as well as re-forecasting your expected finish time.

MEAL TICKETS (Important to read):
This year we are excited to have "Tasty Persuasions Catering" providing the post-race meal. If you are a registered runner, your bib will have a tear-off meal ticket that will provide access to the meal. If you have family or friends accompanying you to the end of the race that would like to purchase a meal ticket, please send an email to mealtickets@100on100.org . Please include in your email 1) Your Name 2) Your Team Name 3) Quantity of tickets needed. Tickets can be collected at race registration. You will need to purchase additional meal tickets in advance so that we know how many people to expect. The deadline to purchase mealtickets is July 29th and the cost is $16 per person.

DONATIONS:
You should create a fundraising page here to make it super simple to help raise money for the Boys and Girls club. We are way behind on our goal to date and need you to take a moment and send a simple note to your friend and family asking if they can support you in this effort. I will follow this email up with a sample email that you can simply forward to your address book to help us make a dent in this effort! Of course if you can donate today here. Thanks for your support!

VOLUNTEERS:
We can never have too many volunteers! Please encourage Friends, Family, and co-workers to assist in this great event by registering today. Volunteering is a neat way to watch your loved ones compete as well as helping the entire event. All Volunteers receive an exclusive 100on100 Relay “Race Crew” shirt and are invited to the Post-Race Party. Volunteers also enjoy their own customized web portal that provides all assignments as well as driving directions from their house to their volunteer location.

NEED A RUNNER:
If you find yourself in the position of needing a team member, look no further than the Floater team. Team Captains can invite members of the Floater team by using the “Invite” feature found in the Captain’s Corner.

LODGING:
Haven’t secured your pre and post race lodging just yet? We have of course added a Facebook page which now has about 175 users. I am still trying to find my way around and learn how to make use of this tool. It seems like everyone else is picking it up faster than me however and sometime I feel a bit like a social outcast. In any event the 100on100 Relay community is probably better at posting content than me anyway which is a good thing. If you haven't joined us yet please check us out and keep the conversation rolling.

Is anyone Tweeting.

If you know what I am talking about then I guess you probably already are. and if not just google twitter to see if it is for you. I have started to dable here as well and hope to try and keep up with the mad dash to see what everyone is up to. I am intending to tweet as cool things are added to the race. If you want to follow us just add us to your whatever it's called. You can find us at 100on100_Relay or check out our community page on our site.

Let us know if you are keeping up with all things community!
