The miles have been deposited in the bank and are now ready for a withdrawal. It's finally time for the highlight of the summer.
We can’t wait to see you all for the 5th annual running of the 100on100: Heart of Vermont Relay on August 15th. Be sure to confirm your teams final start time via either the Captain’s Corner or the Team Listing page.
VOLUNTEERS:
Please be sure to thank the volunteers and shake their hand, as this event is not possible without them. If you are volunteering please remember to bring a watch and consider bringing an umbrella as well in case storms do materialize.
VEHICLES:
As previously mentioned, teams are only allowed (1) vehicle on the course, any extra vehicles being left at Trapp Family Lodge should be parked in the dirt parking lot across the street from our official start line.
TEAM DELAY/SKIP AHEAD CHECKPOINTS:
In order to work within the event infrastructure there may be times where teams running faster than their expected pace may be held. This years Team Delay Checkpoint will be at the Vermont Plywood location. We have extended the volunteering times on the Southern half of the course to avoid stopping teams, but we appreciate your understanding should this occur to your team.
We have also implemented a Team Skip Ahead checkpoint this year for teams falling behind our support infrastructure. This years checkpoint will be the Killington Skyeship transition. Any team arriving at Killington Skyeship after 8:05 PM will be required to drive directly to the next transition at Plymouth Town Offices, where they may resume running. If this happens to your team, be sure to notify the Team Captain at Plymouth Town Offices that you were asked to skip ahead.
WEATHER:
The one element that we cannot control is the weather. Be sure to plan ahead and bring a rain jacket, extra pair of running shoes, socks and an umbrella. The long-range forcast is calling for "Isolated thunderstorms highs in the low 80's and lows in the mid 60's, all and all pretty good by Vermont standards.
FOOD AND MERCHANDISE:
As many of you know the route is very rural and there are few stores to stop at. We recommend that you have cash on hand for purchases of food at the bake sales and vending vehicles that plan to be on-course. Additionally we will have race merchandise for sale via credit card, cash or check.
CHECKIN:
Friday Night: 8/14/2009 at the Trapp Family Lodge from 6-8PM.
Saturday Morning: 30 minutes prior to start time
**You will need to show your safety gear at registration so be sure to bring it with you**
SUPPLIES/SUPPORT:
Although we recommend that teams be self-sufficient we are thrilled that Vermont Pure has donated (1) case of water per team.
SPONSORS:
An event like this cannot happen without the generous support from local and national business, Please thank our sponsors when you see them during the day. Trapp Family Lodge, Okemo Mountain, McKenzie Country Classics, Shaws, Merrell, Poulin Performance, Darn Tough, Fleet Feet Sports, Harpoon Brewery, Vermont Pure, Green Mountain Coffee, Fuel Belt, and Enterprise.
MEDICAL:
Another group of unsung hero's are the Emergency Medical community who are there to ensure your safety during the day. Be sure to shake their hand on race day and let them know how appreciated they are.
RELAY BUCKS:
If you have been fundraising, the last day to earn relay bucks is this Thursday. We will tally the total and have it available at the merchandise table.
REMEMBER TO:
- Have fun and help others have fun
- Be safe
- Please park cars very closely together to maximize space at TA’s
- Be a good neighbor!
